Group Founder - David Hughes

David started his playing - like so many brass players - with his local brass band. In this case it was the Celynen Collieries (Newbridge) Band. From there into the Royal Artillery Staff Band at Woolwich, soon to become brass instructor at the Royal Artillery Junior Musicians School at the ripe old age of 19!

At 21yrs he was appointed conductor to the then mighty Callenders Cable Band, where he was to broadcast with the band.

Leaving the Royal Artillery a few years later he played freelance trombone in and around London, then decided that keyboards were more of a challenge, and had a seven year spell working on keyboards with names like Jim Bowen, Michael Barrymore, Jimmy Davidson, Bobby Crush, Dickie Henderson, Frankie Howerd etc etc   - just to mention a few names from the not to distant past!!!

In and out of brass bands over the past years, have seen him in the middle with many southern bands, Aveley, Newham, Uckfield, Horsham, Brighton and Oxted to mention a few; Recording with Uckfield and Newham, Television with the Aveley Band, and taking the Southern Counties crown with Horsham.

His music writing and arrangement also started back in the Royal Artillery days, and his brass band works have been used by Sellers, Leyland Daf - as then was - and of course Black Dyke, who recorded and broadcast his work.

On the recording front, he has made errr several dozen discs including writing and conducting the brass parts for an Irish No 1. (It was in that position for one week!)

Brazzamatazz came out of a meal with an old pro friend, who suggested - in answer to frustration - that DH should start a small brass group!

Now watch this space!!

As you can see below, things don't always seem to go right!
